Nothing approaches the uniqueness, durability and serviceability of granite countertops on kitchen, bathrooms and other locations.

The journey from the quarry to your kitchen can begin right here in America or in quarries from far lands like Brazil, Italy, India. Around the world there is an enormous inventory of natural stone and more is constantly been discover. The combinations of supply and technological advancements have combined to make natural stone very competitive with hand made materials.

From these quarries giants blocks of granite, marble, limestone and other natural stones materials are carved out of earth with diamond studded cutting systems which drastically reduce the effort that takes to achieve this once time consuming task. The giants blocks then are move to new high speeds gang saws, which are so sophisticated than powerful, they reduces the time of slicing those giant two tons blocks into slabs by more than half. The slabs then are polished in high speed polishing lines, which feature multiple heads to speed the process.

Some the finished slabs are immediately cut into floor tiles, while the rest are shipped to wholesalers and fabricators, like those in your city and town. Many fabricators and even architects’ travel the world to hand select their raw material in blocks and slabs. The same ones you may some day inspect when looking for the perfect natural material for your home, because every slab or block is unique can be an adulating task.

Once you have selected the perfect material for your home, your local fabricator will do the rest, of course with your input. While some fabricators still rely on standard measure techniques the most effective method for achieving a perfect fit is to prepare templates of the area to be covered by granite, marble or other materials. The template is fabricated from thin wooden strips, which are ultimately glued together to reproduce a perfect replica of the areas to be covered since the walls are not necessarily one hundred percent perfect; the template process takes into account that factor.

In the shop the templates are placed on the selected slabs or piece of natural stone and adjusted to maximize the beauty of the stone. With decorative stone, your fabricator might ask you to participate. Once the alignment is complete a precision water-cooled saw cuts the stone Automated computer guided cut systems assured the cutout for stovetops, sinks, faucets and other kitchen appliances are correct. The pieces of natural stone are then edged either with automated equipment or by hand.

There are several common edges. Decorative edges are putted only the visible edges, not in the jointed edge. Powerful diamond routers, using specific beads to profile desired edges, do most edging.

When all pieces are cut, edged and polished as specifications, the natural stone make its final trip to your home. There skilled craftsmen install the counter top and other components, making sure all other elements of your kitchen and bathroom are fitted perfectly. In the field installers glue pieces of natural stone together using polyester resin in the joints. When they are finished the resin has a polish look, similar to the polish of natural stone. While natural stone is eternal stain and water resistant a special sealant is usually applied in the shop or during the installation to provide an added layer of protection just in case there is an accident spill could cause a stain. Your contractor may also suggest you to periodically sealant as a precaution.
